Lake Washington Mid-Lake Loop
If you are new, please read our newcomer information.
This is a 20 mile ride around the middle part of Lake Washington, using the bike paths on the I-90 Bridge and 520 Bridge. We will start at Sam Smith Park, head east on the I-90 Trail towards Bellevue. We will ride north on 108th Ave SE towards downtown Bellevue and continue through Medina to the 520 Bridge. After taking the 520 Trail west back to Seattle, we ride through the Montlake neighborhood towards Lake Washington Boulevard where we will return to Sam Smith Park.
This is a moderate paced ride so be prepared for up to 16 mph on the flats except on multiuse trails, where we will observe the posted speed limit. Riders are welcome to climb and descend the hills at their own pace. We will regroup periodically to make sure no one is unintentionally left behind.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes (9:45am) prior to the start of the ride to prepare yourself and your bike before our safety talk. Ride rolls out at 10:00am.
Riders should bring snacks and ample hydration. Please come with the tools/tubes to fix a flat or minor mechanicals, as well as a plan for getting back to the start if your bike won't take you there (an ORCA card or someone to call). It happens!
Restrooms: There is a restroom at the start. We can do a short (5-10 minute) break at Meydenbauer Beach Park for restrooms and water bottle refills.
Weather notice: In case of inclement weather, the ride leader will post a cancellation notice in the comments section below by 8:00am day of the ride, and will not be at the ride start.
Note: Most of the ride will be on bike paths or in bike lanes. On the way back to Sam Smith Park from the west side of the 520 Bridge, we will be riding on the road but following signed bike routes.
Registration: Please sign the electronic waiver above. This saves time at the start of the ride. Use the "Register" button, which will only be available after you log in.
Beginning riders are extremely welcome!
