The fast five with Josie:

  1. What do you enjoy about bicycling?
I like being active and being outdoors. On my bike, I get to take in the beauty of the PNW at a more leisurely pace.

  2. How did you hear about Cascade?
I picked up a zine from Recycled Cycles about Free Group Rides in the Seattle area!

  3. Why did you become a member of Cascade?
I was planning on doing multiple rides (Flying Wheels, STP, and Kitsap Color Classic) with Cascade this year and since members get a discount on ride registration, it made sense for me to get the membership. I really like the supported nature Cascade provides on rides. They take care of food, logistics, and provide mechanical and medical support. It’s also fun to ride with so many other people.

  4. What do you like about being a part of the Cascade community?
I like recognizing folks at rides and out on the trail. I have made friends through Cascade that have encouraged me to ride distances that I wouldn’t have been able to do solo.

  5. Why should someone consider becoming a Cascade member?
I think if you’re planning on doing rides with Cascade it makes sense to become a member. You also get to support the great work Cascades does to improve safety and increase access to bikes.

On the lighter side:

Most useful or favorite bike accessory?
I really like my woodward backpack pannier from North St bags in Portland, OR! It’s stylish and sturdy and has served me well for several years on and off the bike.

Favorite bike hack?
Popping the wheel off the front tire makes bike transport in small cars a breeze.

Favorite snack?
Olives
