Introducing Mari Offenbecher and welcoming back furloughed staff

A message from Board President Tamara Kim Schmautz:

Dear Cascade and Washington Bikes community,

I am pleased to announce that our new interim Executive Director, Mari Offenbecher, will join Cascade Bicycle Club and Washington Bikes on Monday, March 15. Mari will be leading both organizations through a pivotal time in our program development, and we welcome her decades of leadership experience and team building. She will serve as part of our planned transition to a new permanent Executive Director, who we hope to hire later this summer. Mari and her family are 7-time veterans of the Seattle to Portland ride and avid bicyclists.

We want to thank Christopher Shainin for his 10 months of service as interim Executive Director. Christopher will remain on staff in his previous position as Technology Manager.

Additionally, Cascade leadership and board are pleased to bring back two furloughed staff, Dave Douglas and Pin-An Shih, who will serve as the Rides and Community Engagement Director and the Development Coordinator, respectively.

Dave has worked for Cascade and led our rides and events for more than 20 years. Pin-An had been with the organization for about 6 months before the Covid-19 furloughs. We look forward to their contributions to Cascade and many more successful programs, events, and education successes as we move into 2021.

Thank you for your continued support.

Best wishes,

Tamara
