In the Pacific Northwest, we talk a whole lot about how great the summers are here. The moderate temperatures and the sunshine make the rest of the gray year worth it. I have to disagree. Don't get me wrong, I love summer but I think fall is an underrated season, especially when you're a bicyclist. Here are my top reasons why bicycling is best in the fall:
1. The
colors of the leaves. Every day I leave my house and it is a different painting of colors.
2. The
crunching sound of dry leaves as I roll over them on my bike.
3. The
smells. On my bike I like that I am more aware of what is around me and one of the more surprising features is smells. In the fall there is smoke from people's chimneys, roast dinners, crisp leaves and pumpkin pies. It doesn't get much cozier than that.
4. It is finally
cool enough for me to wear my cute bright red jacket while riding in the crisp fall air.
5. If I'm going on a long ride the
temperature is perfect once I get going. Not too hot, not too cold, just right.
What is your favorite part of riding in the fall?
