Saturday morning is our kick-off summer event,
the Flying Wheels Summer Century!
Get out of the city and enjoy some of Puget Sound's finest rural riding on the largest century in Washington state. The Flying Wheels Summer Century presented by Raleigh is a true celebration of road biking with a finish line festival, and much more.
ROUTE OPTIONS
Each route will take you through lovely eastside scenery and great rest stops. Those who want hills should ride the 45-, 65- and 100-mile loops. For those looking for an easier, less hilly route, the 25-mile loop has only a few. [more info...] The course closes at 6 p.m., so remember to give yourself enough time to complete the route you choose.
START LINE & REGISTRATION
If you pre-registered and have your bib, be sure to complete the emergency contact information on the back. If you haven't received your bib, swing by the packet pick-up tent at the start line.
If you didn't register in advance, no problem. Join us at the start line from 7:30 to 11 a.m. to sign up. We accept cash, checks and credit cards. Come with a registration form already completed and save some time in line.
The start line is staggered based on route distances:
- 7:30 to 9 a.m. for 100-mile riders
- 9 to 10 a.m. for 65- and 45-mile riders
- 10 to 11 a.m. for 25-mile riders
- Stay to the right as much as possible.
- Pass other riders on the left.
- Obey all traffic signs and lights.
- Ride no more than two abreast, and only when it is safe to do so. Ride single file where appropriate. Remember, SINGLE FILE IS SAFER especially when on a narrow road where cars or other bicyclists might want to be able to pass you.
- Slow down and call out when passing.
- Watch for cars pulling out of driveways, and allow drivers to exit.
- Never ride with earphones or earbud(s). Pull off and stop when using a cell phone. These are not allowed while riding this event. Riders must be able to hear approaching traffic clearly or other riders calling out when passing.
