Here at Cascade, our sponsorship partners make all the difference. That’s why we’re excited to announce Kaiser Permanente as the title sponsor of the 2017 Kaiser Permanente Seattle to Portland presented by Alaska Airlines.

With Kaiser Permanente’s recent acquisition of Group Health—one of Cascade’s most prominent and longtime sponsorship partners—we are thrilled and grateful that Kaiser Permanente is continuing to prioritize support for healthy living and community engagement in Washington.

Senior Director of Membership and Development Tarrell Kullaway explains our excitement for having Kaiser Permanente on board: “Kaiser Permanente’s continued support of the STP is a clear indication that the organization is truly invested in a partnership that helps communities get healthy, and we know that bicycles play a huge role in that.” Kullaway continues, “We couldn’t be more excited for the great progress we’ll make together toward a healthier and more connected Washington.”

Kaiser Permanente is clearly committed to the communities they serve, too. In 2015 alone, the organization provided $2.1 billion in community investments throughout its regions, and Kaiser Permanente will invest $800 million over the next decade to improve the health of communities throughout Washington.

Kaiser Permanente’s Washington Region launched in the market today following the acquisition of Group Health on Feb. 1, 2017. Recognized as one of America’s leading health care providers and not-for-profit health plans, Kaiser Permanente is committed to providing high-quality, affordable health care to all with an emphasis on members’ total health—the optimization of mind, body, and spirit in order that individuals can thrive. Kaiser Permanente cares for more than 11.3 million members in eight states and the District of Columbia, including 673,000 members in its new Washington region.

Kaiser Permanente Washington President Susan Mullaney shared the following in the press release issued today about their launch: “Beginning today, Washingtonians can access Kaiser Permanente’s high-quality care and coverage across the state. Our coordinated and connected approach to care brings Kaiser Permanente doctors, nurses and specialists together to care for our members’ total health — mind, body and spirit.”

The Seattle to Portland (STP) ride has long been a glowing example of how multiple communities come together to support the largest multi-day bicycling event in the Northwest. With the help of hundreds of volunteers throughout dozens of communities along the 206-mile route, the STP is transforming how Cascade partners with our neighbors, both near and far, who make our work possible. Each year, community groups and organizations from Seattle down to Portland volunteer their time and services to provide mini-stops, lodging and other services along the route. Support from sponsors like Kaiser Permanente means that Cascade is able to give back to those groups who make the STP possible. The STP truly exemplifies the intersection between community engagement, philanthropic support and healthy living.

We’re excited to officially welcome Kaiser Permanente as the title sponsor of the STP, and we look forward to promoting healthy living together as we make the 2017 STP the best one yet.
