Become a Leader in the Bike Movement!

I am pleased to announce that Cascade’s nationally-recognized leadership development program, Advocacy Leadership Institute (ALI), is currently accepting applications for our 2014 spring class.

Here in sunny Seattle, we are on the verge of the unstoppable rise of the bike. Yes, you heard me right--you and your trusty bike are the future. Not only are we about to unleash Puget Sound Bike Share and outfit the city with the updated Bicycle Master Plan, but the sheer number of people getting on bikes is truly unbelievable. You started something big.

And that’s why ALI is here—to empower bicycle advocates and enthusiasts with the skills necessary to make sure these great things continue to happen.

Apply for ALI today! Applications are due on Thursday, Feb. 27.

Building on Cascade’s mission of creating better communities through bicycling, ALI trains passionate people from across the region to effectively organize their communities and advocate for better plans, policies and infrastructure. ALI is a hands-on eight week program including workshops, guest speakers and the opportunity to work on current projects around the city.

The spring program runs from mid-March to May, meeting downtown on Wednesday evenings from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. weekly.

Apply now! There are a limited number of spaces in the class.

Know someone that’d be great for ALI? Nominate them by emailing me at

Graduates of ALI will have the skills, knowledge and relationships to help make our streets safer for everyone. And, if you play your cards right, you'll end up having dinner at the home of a bicycling champion like Councilmember Mike O'Brien.

You make Seattle the greatest city for bicycling.
