Over Hill & Trail - Black Raven Version (Leisurely)
Event has already happened.
... of 15 spots remaining
Let's meet at the The Black Raven Woodinville Taphouse southwest parking lot. Please arrive in plenty of time to attend the required safety briefing which will begin at 9:00 AM. We’ll roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
We’ll head south and pick up Eastrail for a mile passing along Chateau Ste. Michelle and then connect to the Cross Kirkland Corridor (CKC). Mile 7.5 brings us through the Feriton Spur Park near the Google Campus and an optional restroom stop. We’ll ride north along Lake Washington Blvd. on the Kirkland waterfront. We’ll climb over Market Hill and Finn Hills passing Juanita Bay and St Edwards parks. We’ll have a planned restroom/water stop at Juanita Bay Park at mile 15.5. After dropping back down into Kenmore, we’ll pick up the Burke Gillman Trail heading east. There is construction on the Sammamish River Trail in Bothell at about mile 24 so we will detour around that for 1 mile then wind our way back to the start.
We will climb and descend Market Street (Kirkland) and Finn Hills (Juanita) at our own pace and regroup at the top/bottom. Otherwise, we will stay together.
Restrooms are available at the start. We will stop along the way for restrooms/water at;
- Optional: Mile 7.5 Feriton Spur Park (Kirkland)
- Optional: Mile 12.9 Houghton Beach Park (Kirkland)
- Planned Stop: Mile 15.5 Juanita Bay Park (Kirkland)
- Optional: Mile 24.1 Blyth Park (Bothell)
Roughly 1/3 or the route is packed gravel on the Cross Kirkland Trails. Special tires ARE NOT required although 28mm or wider tires may be more comfortable.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
We'll (optionally) convene after the ride at the Black Raven Taproom for something to eat/drink and to visit. We'll pay for our own food/drink.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
