Explore Seattle's backstreets at a comfortable pace with a sociable crowd, and stop for donuts and other baked delights along the way (expect chocolate). We’ll venture places seldom seen via routes seldom taken, and though we won't go looking for a challenge (we won’t ride the Counterbalance), we'll gradually top a hill or two and savor the view along the way. Bring money for decadence during the ride and for lunch afterward.
This Ride
This Sunday ride will take us through the UW Campus and the Ravenna and Wedgwood neighborhoods with the all-important Bakery stop. The return will include Sand Point, Windermere, Laurelhurst and the Union Bay Natural Area. There is a route map link below for those who want, or just show up and follow the leader(s). We'll climb and descend some hills and ride about 17 miles, with about 900 ft. of elevation gain.
Please be at the east end of Gas Works parking lot ready to ride at 10:00AM. We will start with a required pre-ride safety briefing, and ride when that is done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
For Every Ride...
Parking at Gas Works can be challenging; street parking is available across N. Northlake Way or on local side streets; allow extra time! Carry a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Always bring your sense of humor and patience; this IS a Great Scott ride:-)
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride, and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We look forward to riding with you!
