Let's meet at the parking lot of Faith Episcopal Church in Poulsbo, where you'll see my white Sprinter. Be there, ready to go at the time listed above. Attention cyclists arriving from the 35-minute Seattle to Bainbridge ferry ride: kindly be aware that the last departure time to ensure punctuality is 7:55 a.m. We will start with a required safety briefing and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
This scenic 43-mile journey will guide you through North Kitsap's charming neighborhoods and picturesque countryside against a backdrop of lush woodland areas featuring mature second-growth cedars, Douglas firs, alders, and maples.
Starting from the parking lot of Faith Episcopal Church Poulsbo in Poulsbo, we begin on a pleasant looping tour. We travel north, passing through Indianola and stopping for lunch in Kingston to appreciate scenic views from a hill above the ferry terminal. Afterward, we'll take a circular route to Little Boston and eventually make our way back to Poulsbo.
This riding tour is more than just a fun ride—it's a unique training ground. The route's challenging hills and breathtaking scenery make it an inspirational choice for those looking to improve their skills and have a blast!
It's worth noting that Kitsap County is renowned for its lively communities and deep Native American heritage. The Port Gamble S'Klallam Tribe and the Suquamish Tribe have greatly enhanced this region's breathtaking landscapes, thriving contributions to communities, and diverse Native American heritage as the land's original inhabitants.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace and regroup frequently. We'll also limit our speed on multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH, occasionally 10 MPH).
The ride will last about four hours, if not shorter. Restrooms are available at the beginning of the route in a nearby Town & Country Market. As needed, restrooms and water breaks are available at mileposts 13 in Indianola, 19 in Kingston, 25 in Point Casino, and 32 in Herronswood Garden. Additionally, coffee can be purchased at these mileposts mentioned earlier.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
