Let's meet at the Bike Barn Rentals parking lot on the right as you walk up the Bainbridge Ferry Dock or on the left as you walk down. Be there, ready to go, at the time listed above. Attention cyclists arriving from the 35-minute Seattle to Bainbridge ferry ride: kindly be aware that the last departure time to ensure punctuality is 8:55 a.m. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
The delightful aspect of this ride is that it's a quiet Sunday morning, hoping for pleasantly mild weather, and the opportunity to ride amidst picturesque waterways and lush greenery, making way for a serene and enjoyable day. Some hills will be Wyatt Ways, Hall Hill, and the infamous Baker Hill. At Milepost 4.2, we will have a brief and safe viewpoint stop for photo ops of Seattle, Mount Baker, and ferries entering Eagle Harbor. Starting at Milepost 9.4, we'll journey along the scenic Fort Ward Park pathways, passing by fascinating historic military bunkers and enjoying breathtaking views of Rich Passage. We might be lucky enough to witness a graceful pair of dancing eagles! The ride is expected to be under two and a half hours.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, regroup frequently, and limit our speeds on multi-use paths to the legal maximum (10 or 15 mph).
At the ride start, restrooms are conveniently located in the Bainbridge Island Bus and Ferry Terminal building between the Bike Barn Rentals and the Ferry Dock. At Milepost 11.6, the charming town of Lynwood has two public restrooms and a coffee shop.
It is best to keep a spare tube and tools readily available in case of a flat tire. In addition to these necessary items, it’s always wise to carry a phone, ID, cash and/or credit card, ORCA card, water, and a small snack. When the roads are wet, it is best to have full fenders; otherwise, you may be asked to ride in the rear.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride, and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is canceled at least two hours before the start, the Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
