Free Group Ride
**CANCELLED** Hills of the West Coast Climbs a Mile in the Issaquah Alps
Event has already happened.
Summer won't last forever. Riders who love to climb, let's start early on a warm day and meet at the parking lot near the Tibbetts Valley Skatepark. There is a Sanican at the back-left (southeast) corner of the parking lot. Continue on the path from there just a few feet and there are indoor rest rooms and a water fountain at the tennis courts. Please be ready to ride at 9am. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.
We will climb Cougar, Squak, and Tiger Mountains for a total of 5280' of climbing. There will be an optional bonus at the end of the ride for riders wanting to go a little higher.
The ride is listed as Vigorous, but it will be a very hard ride, with lots of difficult climbing. This ride is designed for fit, strong riders.
Riders significantly off the group pace should be prepared to complete the ride solo. Riders should download the route file into a GPS device. Also be prepared to complete the ride on your own, should your bike require a time-consuming repair. The group will stop briefly to ensure you are okay, but will not wait for repairs to be completed if they take more than a few minutes. Please have a backup plan if you are unable to ride to the finish.
For those interested in Cascade's High Performance Cycling Team, I'm happy to talk about the team during the ride -- so please ask!
We will make minimal stops and regroup when necessary. There will be no food stop. We will make a stop for water and restrooms at Lake Boren Park at the 15.1 mile mark of the ride. The park is shown as a course point on the GPS track.
As a reminder, per Cascade policy, e-bikes are not permitted on Vigorous-paced rides.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
