**CANCELLED** Sunday Morning Sammamish *Groad* Lap
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
Join a 30-mile clockwise lap starting in Bothell, then via Woodinville, Redmond, Kirkland, climbs up Juanita and Holmes Pt, then back to the start via Kenmore.
*Groad" = gravel + road
This route has 4+ miles of gravel and dirt between Woodinville and Redmond along the low/no traffic Eastrail and West Sammamish Trails. They are perfectly rideable on a road bike with sturdy tires, or bring a gravel bike!
There are climbs up the 520 bike trail, Juanita, and Holmes Pt. We'll stop to regroup as needed on the tops of the hills. After descents, we'll coast or soft-pedal until the group reforms. There are no planned major stops on this ride. Be prepared to drink and snack while riding.
We'll roll at a brisk (less than or equal to 18mph) *effort level* when on streets, and no faster than the posted speed limit on the multiuse trails.
There are restrooms at Blyth Park on the east side of the Burke Gilman Tunnel which is at the east end of the Wayne Park parking lot. There are also restrooms near the west side of Mercer Island and we will stop there if necessary. Arrive early if you need to use the bathroom before we start.
Meet on the Burke Gilman Trail on the west side of the Wayne Park parking lot. Be ready to ride at 8:00 AM. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.
There is plenty of parking at Wayne Park and Red Brick Road Park which adjacent to Wayne Park on the north side of the Burke Gilman Trail.
Be prepared to fix a flat or deal with minor mechanical issues.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancelation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
