Ride start: Please ready to ride by 11:00 am for the required SMART briefing before leaving on the ride. Water and restrooms are available at the start location. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
Route: Come have fun and enjoy this bike ride from Matthews Beach to Woodinville and back. Our route follows the Burke Gilman Trail north. Then east of Blyth Park in Bothell the ride exits the trail on to Riverside Drive. We will take a short mid-ride restroom/water break at the Wilmot Gateway Park in Woodinville & then return to Matthews Beach. The terrain is fairly flat with some hill climbing on the road section just west of Woodinville. This is the second mentored ride for Wendy Atkinson in becoming a Cascade ride leader.
Fenders: If the roads are wet, come equipped with fenders long enough to keep the rider behind you dry or be the caboose.
Parking: Free parking at Matthews Beach parking lot. Be sure to secure your valuables.
Pace: The pace is steady at 12-14 mph.
Food: Bring food or snacks to eat on the ride, there will be no lunch break.
Mechanical: Be prepared to handle mechanical issues, if you have a problem e.g. flat tire. Bring a spare tube, tools, patch kit, pump and skills to fix flats and have a mobile phone and a plan for rescue in case your bike fails.
Cue sheets: Printable from the Route Map link.
Weather cancellation: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
