Lake Sammamish is a popular exercise route for cyclists. The route circles Lake Sammamish with some nice views of the lake. Start at Marymoor Park's Lot K near the kid's playground. Parking fee is $1.00 and strictly inforced. Pay or get a hefty fine. Restrooms are available nearby.
We start out riding west to the entrance and follow the West Lake Sammamish Parkway on the road to Issaquah. There will be a detour to the Issaquah Coffee Company for a break and refreshments. Plan on spending a half hour here.
Afterwards, we will locate the Rainier Trail (paved) and follow to the troll Jakob Two Trees. Jakob stands around 14-ft. tall, looking down at passersby who walk near him on the trail. He is the first troll to have a ponytail, with a band made by the Snoqualmie Tribe holding his hair in place. He wears a necklace of birdhouses over his fur, inviting forest creatures to come spend an afternoon with him. Spend some time admiring the troll and taking pictures.
Afterwards, we will backtrack and return on the East Lake Sammamish Trail (paved) and follow it back to Marymoor Park.
Arrive by 11:00 AM to ready your bike and listen to the safety briefing, important route information, and rider introductions. Have all the necessary tools to fix a flat tire: patch kit, spare tube and pump. We roll shortly after the safety briefing.
There will be a food break mid ride in Issaquah. Please bring money or credit card if you wish to purchase something to eat or drink. Carry snack food and water bottle with you at all times. Helmets are required! Dress according to the weather in layers that can be added or removed. New riders are wwelcome!
NOTE: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is canceled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
Hope to see you there!
