Cycling Out Of Sumner (COOS) #7 (Moderate)
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
We are pleased to announce Cycling Out Of Sumner (COOS) will be running a spring training series for 2024 with three paces offered (Steady 12-14 mph, Moderate 14-16 mph, Brisk 16-18 mph). COOS will run on Saturdays, from April 6th through July 6th. COOS is a training series to build endurance and strength. The rides will incrementally increase in distance, leading up to a 100-mile century ride as our finale. All paces will use a common route each week.
Ride #7: We are off to Gig Harbor this week. Our route will consist of views from the Narrows Bridge and a hill to climb every now and then!
Please note: We will start riding at 8AM.
Riders should sign up for the pace they intend to start with. It is permissible to join the faster or slower pace, depending on how you are feeling at the start or during the ride. Registration is required to participate.
Let's meet at the east corner of the Sumner Fred Meyer parking lot. Washrooms are available at the ride start. Please be ready to ride at the start time listed above. We will start with a required safety briefing and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate. While there is plenty of foot traffic at our start location, property crime can happen in a moment: do not leave bikes or other valuables unattended.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and we will frequently regroup. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH, occasionally 10 MPH).
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Ride Leaders will not be providing cue sheets. Riders may choose to view the route online, download it to their own devices, and print a cue sheet if desired. (see the Route Map link)
New riders, we are very happy to have you with us! Please read the information found at the "New Riders" link and keep in mind that a helmet is required for all Cascade rides.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
