Christmas Eve Ride around Mercer Island and south end of Lake Washington (Steady)
Event has already happened.
Full
... of 15 spots remaining
Let's meet at Enatai Beach Park in Bellevue. Be there, ready to go at the time listed above. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
Join us for a 33 mile ride around Mercer Island and the south part of Lake Washington!.This will be a recreational ride, not a climbing sufferfest. This was a popular ride last year, and I have decided to have an encore presentation. We will hope for good conditions, and this should be a good ride to help one deal with the abundance of holiday treats. The road traffic on the Sunday of Christmas holiday is usually low to reasonable.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and we will regroup occasionally. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH, occasionally 10 MPH).
Restrooms are available at the start. We will stop at Caffe Vitta in the Lakewood neighborhood for coffee and snacks (perhaps hot chocolate?!) at mile 17.4, and restrooms will be at Aubrey Davis Park on Mercer Island (mile 12) and Gene Coulon Park in Renton (mile 26).
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group. Please wear attire that is appropriate for the usual Winter Conditions (COLD!).
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, which may include Freezing Conditions the morning of the ride or below freezing the evening before, in which case the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
Lets hope for great - or at least good - conditions, and I hope you can join us.
