Event has already happened.
Let's meet at the Anacortes Ferry to Lopez Island--9:40 am sailing. Be there, ready to go at the time listed above (recommend being at the terminal to buy your walk on ticket by 9am). If you don't see cyclist with their bikes, call me at 253-951-1872, in order to connect. Once at Lopez Island, we will start with a required safety briefing at the buildings in parking lot...once off the ferry. All riders must attend the safety briefing to be allowed to ride.
Lopez Island is the least hilly of the San Juans. However, there is still a notable amount of climbing. Please be prepared. We will ride the island in a counter clockwise fashion, with stops along the waterfronts. Lopez is a sleepy island with picturesque farms and lovely bays. We will spend some time after the ride visiting local shops and/or tasting local fare. There is a sailing back to Anacortes at 6:20 pm. If you need to return sooner, you may choose to not join in town, but rather leave the group ride and return on the 2:40 pm ferry.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and we will regroup after climbs. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH, occasionally 10 MPH).
Restrooms are available on the ferry and in town at the end. There is a convenience store half way through the ride, as well.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
