Gas Works Park to Alki

Join us for a ride from Gas Works Park on a 30 mile route at a steady pace. (12 -14 mph)!

This ride will cross the Fremont Bridge and follow the Ship Canal Trail to the waterfront and continue onto Alki.  We will attempt to avoid sections of the waterfront with construction by riding on parallel streets, such as western avenue.  This is a scenic recreational ride with lots of things to see.  

Let's meet at the the entrance to Gas Works Park by the temporary portapotties and please be ready to ride at at 9:00 am. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done.  If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.

We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to stay together at a steady pace. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH) and give deference to pedestrian, families, or children.

Restrooms are available at the start. We will stop along the way for restrooms/water at about 7 miles out at the Fishing Pier. We’ll also stop for coffee/snacks at Alki or about 15 miles out.  The return route will be nearly the same as the outbound route. 

Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
