Free Group Ride
Fall City to Oxbow Farm (half of ride gravel)
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
Join us for a ride from Fall City Community Park on a 26.7 mile route at Moderate 14-16 mph! The first 17 miles is gravel.
Let's meet at the Fall City Community Park and please be ready to ride at 9:00am. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.
We will ride gravel from Fall City to Oxbow Farm and back to Carnation (~17 miles). Once we return to Carnation, we will get on the paved road to head back to Fall City. A gravel, touring, mountain, cross, or hybrid bike (able to ride on gravel) is needed. This is a social ride.
Oxbow Farm has a small farm stand. We will take a break at Oxbow Farm to explore the farm stand, refill water bottles, refuel, porta potty, and socialize.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to regroup frequently. If moderate or faster, we'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH).
Restrooms (porta potty) are available at the start. We will stop along the way for restrooms/water at mile 12 (Oxbow Farm). Oxbow Farm has a porta potty and water.
Good to know:
- We will be on busy roads and crossing a bridge with traffic for a short distance in Carnation. You need to be comfortable riding on the road with heavy traffic (as well as riding on gravel).
- As gravel is slower then pavement, the pace on the gravel will be slower. We may also get strong headwinds on the return which slows down the pace.
- If you want to purchase snacks and/or sparkling water at Oxbow farm stand, bring money or credit card.
- The route also has several additional porta potties along the way if needed - Nick Loutsis Park in Carnation (miles 6.5 and 16.9) and Jubilee Farm (mile 20.9).
- In the summer, Fall City Floating uses the Fall City Community Park parking lot. The parking lot will fill up. I don't expect this will be a problem for us as we are starting earlier then most river floaters. Across the street is overflow parking in the field as an alternative place to park.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
