Cross Kirkland Corridor Riding and More - (Note: Kirkland Start!)
Event has already happened.
Join us for a ride from Kirkland on a 39 mile route at a Moderate Pace (14-16 mph on the flats). We'll checkout the new riding overpass at Totem Lake and celebrate the start of our third year of Sunday rides.
Note that our start this week is in Kirkland rather than Woodinville! Please allow a little extra time to locate appropriate parking if you plan to drive to the start. There is on-street parking on 5th Place South just west of Feriton Spur Park and additional parking should be available within a block or so in the adjacent neighborhood. Please do not park in any of the commercial sites such as Google etc. Our route heads north on the Cross Kirkland Corridor trail (gravel) and crosses the new overpass trail bridge by Totem Lake on the way toward Woodinville. We'll follow these sections with a climb over Juanita Hill and ride through Bellevue with a loop return to the Cross Kirkland Corridor trail taking us back to the start. This route is approximately 20% gravel and 80% pavement. The gravel is well packed and we have not experienced road bikes having much difficulty riding on the surfaces.
Let's meet on the Cross Kirkland Connector Trail adjacent to the Chainline Brewing Station (shown in the location info above) and please be ready to ride at 9:30am. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to regroup occasionally. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH).
Restrooms and water are available at the start. We will stop along the way for restrooms/water at miles 17.5 (O.O. Denny Park) and 31.1 (Bellevue Downtown Park). After the ride, we’ll have the option for beverages and food at the Chainline Brewing Station in Kirkland. Note: this is an optional activity and occurs after the ride completion. Information on what they offer for food and drink can be found at Chainline Brewing
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
