Free Group Ride
Hills of the West Coast Eastside Edition
Event has already happened.
Riders who love to climb, let's meet near the rest rooms adjacent to the Tibbets baseball fields and please be ready to ride at 8:30am. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group. Please park in the upper parking lot.
Come prepared to ride 7-9 climbs in the Cougar Mountain area, ranging in difficulty from hard, to really hard, to super hard. Without a low enough gear, these climbs will be even more difficult. This ride is designed for fit, strong climbers. We will climb around 4500-5000' in less than 40 miles. There is no predetermined route, but it may be similar to this: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/177161367
I will brief participants before the ride start about the climbs we are likely to do, but may modify the plan, based on how everybody is doing on the ride.
We will regroup at the bottom and top of each climb, and riders will be briefed on the climb difficulty, as well as safety concerns to be aware of on the descents.
There will be no food stop. Due to the steepness of the climbs and frequent regroups, plan on a ride lasting four hours. Start with two full water bottles.
Per Cascade policy, e-bikes are not permitted on Strenuous Pace rides.
