FRUMPS: Newcastle - May Valley - Issaquah

Come join us for a scenic 28-mile social ride from Bellevue through May Valley to Issaquah for coffee/lunch.  We’ll start at Newcastle Beach Park south of Bellevue (take Exit 9 off I-405).  There are restrooms and water available at the start, a restroom stop at Mile 11, and lunch at Mile 18 (Panera Bread in Issaquah).

Please be ready to ride at 10 AM.  We will start with a required safety briefing and roll out when that's done. If you miss the briefing, you will not be able to ride with the group.  

This is a Steady paced ride, 12-14 mph on the flats in the absence of wind. We'll limit our speed on multi-use trails to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH).  We’ll climb and descend hills with each rider at their own pace, and we’ll regroup frequently.

We won’t be able to wait long for anyone substantially off the pace. Please bring navigation aids in case you need to finish on your own.

Be prepared with the equipment (including a spare tube) and knowledge to take care of your own flats and mechanicals, and a plan for getting back to the start if your bike won't take you there. If you have a problem the group will stop briefly to make sure you will be OK on your own, but we may not be able to wait for repairs to be completed.

Steady rain cancels. If weather conditions meet the weather cancelation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
