Free Group Ride
Wally World: Duvall to Tokul Tunnel Gravel Ride
Event has already happened.
Join us for a 38 mile, steady paced (12-14 mph) ride on the Snoqualmie Valley Trail from Duvall to the Tokul Tunnel and back. Much of the route is scenic and, at this time of year, there is a good chance we will be able to see a variety of birds, particularly on or near the wetlands. I will be bringing binoculars and encourage you to do as well. On the way back we will stop at Remlinger Farm (mile 28) in Carnation for food (they have wonderful pies).
Let's meet at Depot Park in Duvall and please be ready to ride by 10:00 am. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.
The ride is posted as a "Steady" pace which means 12 - 14 mph on flat paved roads. However, since we will be on gravel for the entire ride and climbing (or descending) almost continually for the 10 miles between Carnation and the Tokul Tunnel, for this ride the designation of "Steady" implies effort, not speed. The route is over an abandoned railroad right-of-way. Since trains are pretty much limited to grades of less than 2.5%, there are no steep climbs along the route. Our goal is to stay together, but we will regroup if needed.
Restrooms and water are available at the start. Portable toilets are available at several locations along the route. At mile 28 we will stop at Remlinger Farm for food and restrooms. You might want to consider bring a lock for the stop at Remlinger.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
