Free Group Ride
CTS Yellow #8: Bothell - Monroe - Maltby
Event has already happened.
We will be touring some beautiful rural areas of Snohomish County, including Snohomish and Monroe! If you participated in the CTS #5, much of the route will seem familiar. Unfortunately, due to the scheduled closure of Ben Howard Road (return from Sultan), we will not be going all the way to Sultan. We will still get in plenty of miles, and generous amount of climbing!
We will be starting from the Bothell Park and Ride, and the ride will commence at 08:00 a.m, with the required safety briefing. Please plan to arrive well enough in advance to be ready to ride prior to the SMART talk and safety briefing. I do ask that participants review the route map (linked below) to be better familiar with the route and areas of concern. There are no restrooms at the Park and Ride. However, our first stop at Wilmot Gateway Park approximately 2 miles from the start, will have restrooms.
Rest stops Include:
- MP 2.3 - Wilmot Gateway Park in Woodinville
- MP 24.1- Lake Tye Park in Monroe
- MP 39.7 - Safeway in Monroe. This will be the Lunch Stop. Please remain focused and efficient and plan to limit time to 25 minutes.
- MP 54.4 - Maltby Community Park
- MP 70 - 60 Acres Park.
Reminders, Notes and Cautions
Please remember to have your Road ID, as well as weather-appropriate attire. Attendance at the SMART talk/safety briefing is mandatory for participation in ALL Cascade Bicycle Club group rides, including the CTS.
Much of the ride in the rural areas are on 2-lane roads with either no shoulder, or less than 14 inches of shoulder. If Ride Leaders choose to take the lane in some of these roads, plan for frequent pull-outs to allow drivers to pass. There will be several climbing portions along our route, a few with steep portions that approach 7 to 8.5 % grade! Please anticipate gearing down as you approach these. They are noted on the Ride with GPS route map.
At mile 33.3 (yes, that is correct), where Reiner Road meets up with Old Owen Road, we will plan to turn around to return to Monroe. We will stay on Old Owen Road until we are approaching the Safeway.
Please bring adequate water and electrolytes, and snacks, and plan to refill, and (briefly) refuel at the rest stops. Once again, a reminder to bring more than one inner tube for your size of wheel/tire, as during these longer rides, the possibility of having more than one flat tire should be kept in mind.
Looking forward to seeing you on Saturday, June 10!
Please review the Comments Section before the morning of the ride for any final updates. Route may be updated there as well as weather updates and cancelations. As there may be smoke from forest fires, if the Air Quality Index is in the unsafe range, the ride may be subject to cancelation.
