Best Side Cycling: South Bellevue Summits Photo Tour

Join me (Best Side Cycling) for a tour of my favorite hills and views in the South Bellevue / Cougar Mountain area. This will be a very hilly ride from Newport Hills Park and Ride on a 28.6 mile route with 3658 ft of elevation at brisk pace (16-18 mph on the flats)!
Our main climbs will be: China Creek, Summit, Somerset and Zoo. All presenting average gradients over 8%: prepare for a good workout. We will all climb at own pace and wait for everybody at the top of each hill. That's where we'll be rewarded with my favorite views of the area (sample attached) and get a group photo at each to commemorate our achievement :)
Take extra note that this route will have almost no flat terrain with over 100ft of elevation per mile: come with the right gearing and we will prioritize safety foremost on descents as everyone goes at their pace. Please ensure that your brakes are in good order and that you're comfortable with descents overall! 

Let's meet at the Newport Hills Park and Ride and please be ready to ride at 11am. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done.  If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.

Restrooms are not available at the start but with an optional restroom stop at mile 10 at Eastgate Elementary School. We'll make one main rest stop with food/drink at Eastgate Safeway at miles 14.4.

Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
