Something Different, Mixed Terrain, Moderate

Join us for a ride from Magnuson Cafe & Brewery on a 30 mile route at a moderate 15-16 mph!

This ride is a fun mixture of roads and trails. Safety for bicycles and pedestrians is #1 so in parts of the route, we will reduce our speed and possibly stop and walk a couple of short sections. We will lap Greenlake and check out some of the Cycle cross trails. Then we will descend Ravenna Canyon and make our way to Interlaken and the Arboretum. We will go behind Husky Stadium and explore the nature area exiting into the Laurelhurst neighborhood. Finally we go through Windermere and do a slow roll along the waterfront of Magnuson Park. The trails are muddy and we will get our bikes dirty. The forecast is for cold and wet at the time of posting. I plan to ride unless there is ice on the roadway.

Let's meet at the Magnuson Cafe & Brewery and please be ready to ride at 10:45. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done.  If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.

We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to regroup occasionally. We'll also limit our speed on multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH).

Restrooms are available at the start. We will stop along the way for restrooms/water at mile 9. 

Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Also a second pair of gloves is highly recommended along with fenders and rain gear. You may be asked to ride at the rear of the group if you are kicking up excessive spray.

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
