Free Group Ride
Quadricep Burner for Mortals (Out and Back Log Boom Park in Kenmore across 520 Bridge)
Event has already happened.
Please bring a good white head light and a red tail light as we may be riding after sunset!
Join us on a 27.8 mile out and back ride from Log Boom Park in Kenmore riding along the Burke Gilman Trail and across the 520 Bridge Trail at a Moderate pace, 14-16 MPH! The pace of this ride is based on having no wind and being on a flat road. If there is a headwind or a hill, the pace will be lower, if we have a tailwind or downhill, the pace may be higher.
This is a nice paved trail ride that show cases views of the University of Washington Campus and Husky Stadium, Lake Washington, and Portage Bay. There will be a couple stops for pictures if you need too. Depending on the group this ride could last 2+ hours so be prepared to experience a sunset.
Let's meet by the Log Boom Park Restrooms and please be ready to ride at 5:15pm. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. If you miss the briefing, you will not be able to ride with the group. Please Park just outside of the park parking lot on NE 175th Street which is along the Burke Gilman Trail.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to stay together. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH).
Restrooms are at the start.
Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancelation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Mentoring is available for prospective Ride Leaders with advance notice.
We hope you can join us!
