Gas Works - Perkins Way Loop Last Blast of 2022
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
Join us for a last ride of 2022 from Gas Works Park in Seattle on a 24.6 mile route at Moderate Pace (14-16 mph on the flats)!
This route starts with a steady elevation gain right out of the gate for roughly 6.5 miles, but then it's (mostly) downhill from there! We'll head north up Stone Way, around the south end of Greenlake and join the Interurban Trail. We'll ride to 195th in Shoreline and head east across I-5 and descend Perkins Way to Lake Forest Park where we'll take a brief break at Animal Acres Park to regroup. There is a porta-potty there too. Please note: there are some small potholes and rough pavement on the Perkins Way descent, please descend within your comfort level and be aware. We will do a 'hard' regroup at the bottom at Animal Acres Park so no need to rush. Afterwards, we will join the nearly flat Burke Gilman Trail and head south to Gas Works Park and the finish. If needed or requested, we will stop at Mathews Beach Park for restrooms.
Let's meet at the Gas Works Park parking lot and please be ready to ride at 10:00am. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group. Please note there are no restrooms or water at Gas Works Park.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to regroup frequently. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH).
We will stop along the way for restrooms at mile 13, Animal Acres Park in Lake Forest Park where there is a porta-potty. We may OPTIONALLY stop at Mathews Beach Park at mile 17.5 for restrooms.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. If the temperature is anywhere near freezing or there's any chance of snow, ice or frost, the ride will be canceled.
We hope you can join us!
