Let's Start the New Year Right (South End version)

Let's get together and START THE NEW YEAR RIGHT!

It's a brand new year, time to set the tone for all that follows! Let's get out for a roll through quiet roads and paved trails in the South County, with a stop mid-ride for coffee and conversation. We'll meet in the north lot of Auburn High School at 11:00 AM on New Year's Day. We will start with a required safety briefing at 11:00 sharp, and roll out when that's done.  If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.

This is a flat, social, steady paced ride. We'll be riding at 12-14 miles per hour; a little slower if there's an uphill or a headwind, a little faster downhill or with the wind behind us. We won't ride if it's frosty or raining steadily, but dress to suit what the forecast and prudence dictate.

Restrooms are not available at the start, but if needed, we can make a quick stop at Walmart about a mile and half into the ride. At the mid-point of the ride, we'll make a brief stop at the Sumner Starbucks before heading back to Auburn. The return trip will take us on the Sumner Link Trail as it follows the course of the White River before we return to the roads through Algona and Pacific. We'll return briefly to the Interurban Trail, then back to Auburn High.

Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancelation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
