HEADs UP: *Pie bakers are off on holiday until January, 2023, BUT, there are brownies, cookies and other treats*
PIE RIDE: We will ride north on the Burke-Gilman Trail to the North Shore Senior Center (NSSC) in Bothell, www.northshoreseniorcenter.org, just beyond Blyth Park near Bothell. We then take a pie, brownie or cookie break at NSSC. A variety of homemade pies with ice cream, whipped cream and coffee are usually available for riders to purchase at a reasonable price. Please note: purchases may be with cash, charge or debit cards (plastic purchases are a minimum of $1.00). We will be there for about 30 to 60 minutes, use the restrooms if needed and then return to Matthews Beach.
There are currently no COVID protocols listed on their website. Vaccinations are strongly encouraged. Having a mask at hand is a good idea to be sure you can gain entrance to the facility if masks are required. For latest updates, see www.northshoreseniorcenter.org in the "News" section.
Route: Come, have fun, converse and enjoy this social bike ride along the Burke Gilman Trail. The terrain is flat.
Cue sheets: No cue sheets provided. Stay together ride.
Fenders: If the riding surfaces are wet, please come equipped with fenders long enough to keep the person riding behind you dry or be the caboose.
Ride start: We meet at the Matthews Beach parking lot. Please be ready to ride at 11:30 A.M. We will start with a required safety briefing and roll out when that's done. If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group. Note: Water and restrooms are available at the start.
Be prepared-if you have a mechanical problem e.g. flat tire please have equipment with skills to fix flats; bring ID, phone and have a plan for rescue if you or your bike fails.
Register: Please sign an e-waiver by clicking on the “Register Now” button at the top of this page (right below the ride title) and enter your information.
Parking: Free parking at Matthews Beach parking lot. Arrive early to beat the seagulls for a good spot.
Weather cancelation: - If weather conditions meet the weather-cancels criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, I will post a ride-canceled message for registered riders at least two hours prior to ride time and will not be at the start location.
