**CANCELLED** preCHEW #3 (Getting Ready for Climbing Hills Everywhere in Winter)

Please join us for for a ride from the South Kirkland Park & Ride.

These Saturday rides lead up to the start of the CHEW (Climbing Hills Everywhere in Winter) series, which begins the first Saturday in January 2023.

We will meet at the South Kirkland Park & Ride.  This will be an approximate 40 mile route at Brisk Pace (16-18mph).  Please be ready to ride at 10:00am. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done.  If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.

We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to try to stay together and we will regroup at the tops of climbs if we get separated. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH).

Restrooms are not available at the start.  There is no water at the start.  We will make a restroom stop at Kirkland Marina Park (Mile 2.5).  We will also take a break at the Safeway in Kingsgate (Mile 20.2)  Please bring money for food and/or beverage if you would like to buy something.

Riders should bring tools & knowledge to repair flats or minor mechanicals and be prepared to complete the ride on your own should your bike require repair. Please have a backup plan (someone to call or an ORCA card) if your bike will not get you to the finish.

Fenders are requested if it is wet or expected to be wet.  Plan to ride at the back if you do not have fenders.

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancelation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
