Join us for a ride starting from Log Boom Park in Kenmore on an approximate 25 mile route at a Steady pace (12-14 mph on the flats). This is a route which merges modest hill climbing with some fairly flat terrain using bike trails, bike lanes and largely quiet neighborhood streets. This is a mentoring ride. We will ride over to Seattle to Green Lake Park. Heading northward on Fremont Ave and the Interurban Trail, we will go through parts of Shoreline and Lake Forest Park before returning to the start.
Start Time & Location: We'll meet at Log Boom Park, where restrooms and water are available. We will meet near the restrooms.
Please be there, ready to ride, at 10:00 am. We will start with the required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done.
Parking: Please do not park in the Log Boom parking lot; use the on-street parking on NE 175th just east of the park.
Navigation: The planned route/cue sheet is at the link below. The goal is to stay together via regrouping as necessary, but we won’t be able to wait long for anyone substantially off the pace. Please bring navigation aids in case you need to finish on your own, as the ride becomes self-led for those ahead of or behind the group.
Rest Stops: We will have a short rest stop at mile 11.5 East Green Lake Park; and a 25 minute rest stop and coffee break at mile 19.9. Please bring funds suitable for any purchases you may elect to make.
Cancelation: If weather conditions meet the weather cancelation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and the Ride Leader will not be at the start location.
Repairs: Be prepared with the equipment and know-how to take care of your own flats and mechanicals, and a plan for getting back to the start if your bike won't take you there (e.g., an ORCA card or someone to call). If you have a problem the group may stop briefly to make sure you will be OK on your own, but we will not be able to wait for extended repairs.
