Edmonds Ride to Snohomish, and Woodinville (Steady 12-14mph)
Event has already happened.
Join us for a ride from Edmonds to Snohomish and Woodinville on a 58 mile route at a Steady pace!
The route is a scenic ride to Snohomish with views of the Olympics, Cascades and Sound. The route starts in Edmonds and travels north to Paine Field before dropping down to the Snohomish River. We'll ride along the river valley to Snohomish for a lunch break (60 minutes +/-) at the Snohomish Bakery. After the bakery we head to the Snohomish Ice Cream Factory for an affogato, then we continue to Woodinville and pick up the Burke Gilman trail with a climb up Perkins Way and rapid descents in Shoreline and Woodway on our way back to Edmonds.
NOTE - This is a companion to the moderate ride being led by Ken Tenure. It follows the same route to the Snohomish food stop but there are slight differences after that (like having an ice cream stop!) After the ice cream stop we will have a very steep windy descent on 240th st and riders will be asked to stay behind the ride leader.
Let's meet at Edmonds City Park and please be ready to ride at 9:30. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.”
Parking -Parking at the park is down the hill from the entrance on the right hand side - Southwest corner of the park.
Pace - We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and we will regroup after hills. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH). Please bring navigation aids in case you need to finish on your own, as the ride becomes self-led for those substantially ahead of or behind the group.
Restrooms - Restrooms are available at the start. We will stop along the way for restrooms/water at miles 24 and 33. There is also an optional restroom stop if needed at mile 11.
Food - We’ll have a stop for lunch at Snohomish Bakery at mile 24 and then at mile 33 we have an affogato (or ice cream) stop .
Repairs: Be prepared with the equipment and know-how to take care of your own flats and mechanicals, and a plan for getting back to the start if your bike won't take you there (ORCA card or someone to call). If you have a problem the group may stop briefly to make sure you will be OK on your own, but we will not wait for repairs to be completed.
Route Detail and Cue Sheet - The planned route/cue sheet is at the link below. .
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below and send all registered riders and email at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
