Foothills Trail - Puyallup, Buckley, and Wilkeson

Join us for a ride from Puyallup to Wilkeson and Buckley via the Foothills Trail on a 49 mile route at Moderate Pace.This ride is mostly along or parallel to the Foothills Trail with a detour out to Wilkeson and then back to the trail at Buckley for the return to Puyallup. 

The route includes 1 significant climb from South Prairie to Wilkeson but is mainly an easy grade out and back. We will climb and descend hills at our own pace and will plan on regrouping at the top and bottom of these hills. Restrooms are available at the start. Optional restroom stops are also available at the Orting Trailhead at mile 7.4 and the South Prairie Trailhead at mile 15.1 as well as at the Wilkeson (19.5) and Buckley (28.2) refreshment stops.

Pace is moderate, i.e., 14-16 mph on the flats with no head wind. We will occasionally go faster on slight downhill grades based on the group. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH).

Let's meet at the East Puyallup Foothills Trailhead parking lot and please be ready to ride at 8:30 a.m. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done.  If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.

Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
