Blue Angels Ride (Steady)

The Blues are back! And they're bigger, faster and louder! After a two year COVID absence, the Blues will be flying their new F/A 18 Super Hornets. New this year is the F35 demonstration team which we may or may not see. I'll check them out on Friday and see if we want to adjust our route and timing. They're scheduled at 1PM. We'll take a short but somewhat hilly tour of Mercer Island including roads seldom seen before arriving at a prime viewing area roof deck around mile 16. We'll relax on the deck and watch a great show. After the show, we'll ride back to the starting point less than 2 miles away. Coffee and cold water will be provided during the show but bring your own snacks. Fair warning: This ride is at least as much about the Blues as the cycling. Your non-riding significant other is welcome to join us to watch the show.

With the earlier flying events this year, It's not clear when the Mercer Island P&R will fill up. If it's full, you can use nearby streets, the Mercer Island Community center, or either parking lot at Luther Burbank Park and ride to the start. 

No rest room at the start but we'll stop at Lid Park restrooms before mile 1.

Be prepared to deal with flat tires and mechanicals and have a plan to take yourself back to the start if your bike can’t get you there; and/or to ride alone if you are significantly faster or slower than the Steady pace.

COVID19 continues, so if you are not feeling well--fever, cough, fatigue, congestion, sore throat--please do not register or ride with us.

Please have fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group. 

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
