Free Group Ride
Woodinville to Sammamish Social Ride for Coffee (Note: 8:30am Start)
Event has already happened.
Join us for a ride starting from Wilmot Gateway Park in Woodinville on an approximate 41 mile route at a Moderate pace (14-16 mph on the flats). This is a route which merges hill climbing with some fairly flat terrain using bike trails, bike lanes, rural roads, and largely quiet neighborhood streets.
This week we will ride to up to the Sammamish Plateau and around Beaver Lake. We will have a short rest stop at Ebright Park at mile 15.6. We will have a 25 minute combined coffee and rest stop at approximately mile 26.7 at a coffee shop and grocery store. [Please bring suitable funds if you plan to purchase food or drink at our coffee/rest stop.] We will have an optional rest stop on our return at mile 33.2 in Marymoor Park. A downloadable ride map and cue sheet for GPS navigation devices is at the Link below.
Let's meet at the Wilmot Gateway Park by the tables under the pergolas in the park at 8:30 a.m. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.
This will be my last ride of this informal albeit regular series of Sunday rides (a 13 month run!) for about two months due to other travel plans and schedules. I hope we can resume these rides in late September.
We will climb and descend the major hills at our own pace and will regroup at the top as needed. Please note that this week's route has hills and riders should have confidence to maintain continued climbs. The ride leader is slow up any hills we may encounter but will always get there.
Restrooms and water are available at the start. Please bring any snacks you may want to have during the ride.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
If you are driving to the start, please consider adding a little extra time for your travels as youth athletic activities have started recently and parking might have to be a little farther away than what you have experienced over the last couple of months.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
