Join us for a ride from Auburn High School on a 59 mile route at Moderate Pace. This ride is mostly rural and will take us through Ravensdale, Black Diamond, and Cumberland with short stops at two state parks and includes a longer refreshment stop at Black Diamond Bakery.
Let's meet at the Auburn High School SW parking lot and please be ready to ride at 8:30 a.m. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.
The route is mostly flat but includes 2 short significant climbs and 2 fast downhill sections. We will climb and descend hills at our own pace and will plan on regrouping at the top and bottom of these climbs. Pace is moderate, i.e., 14-16 mph on the flats with no head wind. We will occasionally go faster on slight downhill grades based on the group. No one will be left behind. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH).
Restrooms are not available at the start. We will stop along the way for restrooms/water at Flaming Geyser State Park at mile 11.8 and Nolte State Park near Cumberland at mile 25.4. We’ll also stop for coffee/snacks at the Black Diamond Bakery at mile 43.3 before completing our ride.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
