FRIDAY RIDERS: Bike Gas Works to Ballard Locks and Golden Gardens

Join us for a ride from Gas Works Park on a 13 mile route at a leisurely pace (10-12 mph).   Leader rides at the slow end of leisurely.  We'll head out and cross the Fremont Bridge and continue on the Ship Canal Trail to Fishermen's Terminal and then the Ballard Locks.  After walking through the Locks and viewing the gardens and fish ladder we'll return to the Burke then bike through Shilshole Marina to see the Leif Erikson statue and on to to see the ducks and turtles in the pond at Golden Gardens.  Returning on the Burke, we'll see the progress on the Ship Canal Water Quality Project and view the Fremont dinosaur topiaries 

Let's meet at the Gas Works parking lot and please be ready to ride at 10 am. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done.  If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group. We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to stay together.   We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH) restrooms are available at the start, the Locks, and Golden Gardens. We will stop along the way for views and return to Gas Works before it gets too warm and before lunch.

Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leaders will not be at the start location.
