Cycling Out Of Sumner (COOS)#13 and a half - the celebration ride!
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
Cycling Out Of Sumner (COOS) is a a spring training series with three paces (Steady 12 - 14 mph, Moderate 14 -16 mph, Brisk 16 - 18 mph).
COOS 2022 ran for thirteen Saturdays, from April 2nd through July 2nd.
Ride # 13 1/2: This is ride #14 of our 13 week series - a celebration of our training efforts and a group pre-STP shake out. (You are of course welcome to join us even if you didn't attend any of the other rides in the series this year and if you aren't doing STP this year - this will hopefully be a good preview for next year!)
We're starting at our usual location in the east corner of the parking lot of the Fred Meyer in the heart of Sumner and will be climbing up to Sumner heights, doing a few hills and then dropping back down and back to the start via Puyallup residential streets and the Riverwalk Trail. Washroom stop at Five Mile Lake Park at mile 10. Everyone is invited to Starbucks, in same complex as the Fred Meyer, after the ride.
Please be ready to ride at 9 am. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group. It's a good idea to arrive early!
NOTE: While there is plenty of foot traffic at our start location, property crime can happen in a moment: do not leave bikes or other valuables unattended.
As always, we will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and we will regroup after hills and before turns. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH).
All riders should carry nutrition and water, and have the know-how and equipment to fix a flat tire, as well as to make minor repairs. Everyone should carry a phone to call for assistance if needed, as well as cash, and/or a credit card. Ride Leaders will not be providing cue sheets. Riders may choose to view the route online, download to their own devices, and print a cue sheet if desired.
New riders, we are very happy to have you with us. Please read the New Rider link below, and keep in mind that a helmet is required for all Cascade rides.
Please register for the ride using the red "Register Now" button at the top of this page.
Note: Weather cancellations will be in the ride post title at least 2 hours prior to start time and registered riders will be sent a cancellation message to their email address attached to their Cascade account.
