West Seattle to South Park for Coffee

Join us for a ride from Jack Block Park in West Seattle on a 13 mile round trip route at an easy pace (under 10 mph).

Let's meet near the restrooms, adjacent to the parking area of the park, and please be ready to ride at 9:45 a.m. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done.  If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.

Our goal will be to stay together during the ride.  The pace is designed to make this ride accessible to less experienced riders who may want an introduction to group riding on a bike trail, or a quick refresher.  The route is thus predominately on the Alki and Duwamish bike trails/paths.  The last few blocks of the route go through the tree-lined residential streets of South Park as we near our reward, coffee and treats at the Resistencia Cafe on Cloverdale Street (the six and a half mile point).  Bring funds to purchase the beverage and pastry of your choice.  After the stop, we will return to the start by the same route.

Restrooms and water are available at the start.  Restrooms are also available at the coffee stop.  If you plan to drive to the start from outside West Seattle, allow extra time because the West Seattle Bridge is closed for repairs, and you will need to follow the detour route.  Jack Block Park can also be reached by the Rapid Ride "C" bus. 

Prior to the ride, please be sure your bike is in reasonable working order.  Ride leader is not responsible for fixing flats or dealing with mechanical problems. 

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
