Eastside Hills #16 (Brisk)

Join us for a ride from Kirkland Transit Center on a 51-mile ride at a brisk pace (16-18 mph on the flats.)

This week's ride is quite challenging - it features ten hills in the Kirkland area.  The hills vary in height from about 200 feet up to 500 feet.  Some of the hills have a relatively gradual incline, while others may include pitches up to 10 - 15%.  Most of the route is on relatively low traffic roads.  The route stays relatively close to the start so that it is easy to head back if it starts to rain.

Let's meet at the Kirkland Transit Center between the library and the baseball field. Please be ready to ride at 9 a.m.  We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.

We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to regroup at the top of each hill. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 mph.)

Restrooms are available at the start. There are four hours of free parking at the public parking garage under the Kirkland Library. We will stop along the way for restrooms/water/food at mile point 26 at Haggen's Market in Woodiniville.

Bring a spare tube (or two) and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.

Note: If there is steady rain or hazardous riding conditions, such as snowy or icy roads, or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.  During the ride we will tolerate light rain or brief showers, but if we encounter heavy rain we may return early.
