Edmonds Loop from Hamlin Park

Join us at Hamlin Park for a 26 mile scenic and hilly route through Lake Forest Park, Brier, Mountlake Terrace, Edmonds, Woodway, Richmond Beach, Innis Arden, and Shoreline. The route is generally on very lightly trafficked roads, with a couple of short stretches on paved trail.

This is a continuation of an occasional series of hilly rides from Hamlin Park, during which we will explore various north end routes.

Let's meet at the Hamlin Park west parking lot.  If driving, enter from the west off of 15^th Ave. NE onto the Hamlin Park Road and take a left into the first parking lot.  There is also a paved bike trail into the park on the east side from 25^th Ave. NE at the north end of the Hamlin Park “upper lot.” 

Please be ready to ride at 2:00 PM. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done.  If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.

We will climb hills at our own pace, regrouping at the top of major hills. Please bring navigation aids (GPS or cue sheet), in case you find yourself substantially off the group pace and need to finish on your own. Faster riders are welcome to join us and ride ahead of the group on hills, if you don't mind hanging around for the regroups. 

Restrooms are available at the start. We will also stop along the way for restrooms/water at Kayu Kayu Ac Park at mile 14.3.

Bring tools and knowledge to repair flats; if rider schedules allow, we may pause briefly for flat repair and minor mechanicals, but have a phone and a plan to get home/back to the start if needed.

If there's a chance of precipitation and/or wet roads, fenders with long mud flaps are recommended. Anywhere the road is wet, if you don't have flaps close to the ground (preferably 2" or less and no more than 4"), you'll need to take the initiative to stay behind everyone with better fenders. 

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
