Free Group Ride
Ride Up North: Whitehorse trail, Arlington to Darrington
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
NOTE ESPECIALLY: This is a ride on a gravel surface (old railroad grade), part of the RAILS-TO-TRAILS system. OFF-ROAD TIRES ARE HIGHLY!! RECOMMENDED.
The goal is to make the entire round-trip journey of 47 miles. However, if anyone feels that they have perhaps bit off more than they can chew, they can easily break-off from the ride, turn around and just follow the trail back to the start.
We will strive to maintain an average of around 12 mph, about the pace one would want for e.g. a 2-day STP.
Let's meet at the TRAFTON TRAILHEAD PARK and please be ready to ride at 10 AM.. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.
Restrooms are not available at the start. "Informal" restrooms are available all along the route. There are no places to refill water bottles or get snacks until we get to Darrington, about 23 miles. You need to be carrying the fluids and nutrition you will need for the 23 mile outward leg. We can fill-up and re-fuel in Darrington.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat AND KNOW HOW TO USE THEM, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
The only conditions for a cancellation are snow, ice, below-freezing temps or a ride leader problem. Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and the Ride Leader will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
