Pierce County Trails Day: Tacoma to Foothills Trail

To celebrate Forever Green Trails' Pierce Country Trails Day, I will show you my favorite route to get from Tacoma to the trailhead of the Foothills Trail in Puyallup - this route includes Puyallup's lovely Riverwalk Trail. 

We'll meet at the park and ride next to War Memorial Park. Tacoma Library Swasey Branch is right near our start location and their public washrooms should be available. We'll start with introductions and a brief safety talk. Please be at the start, ready to ride, at 12 noon.  

On-line registration required.  Participants do not need to be a member of Cascade Bicycle Club to register, but must create an account if they do not already have one.  

This group ride is one way and there will be a return ride later in the day. Please register for both rides if you wish to do both portions with the group.  There is also a link to a return route if you want to do it without the group. Linked routed can be downloaded and cue sheets can be printed from them. Ride leader will not be providing cue sheets. 

Pace of this ride is Moderate  and the miles per hour (mph) listed is not an average, but rather the speed we travel on flat terrain without wind. We will be faster on downhills and slower on uphills. Every rider will take hills at their own pace and we will regroup after them and before turns.

Helmets are required. Other items to bring: a charged cell phone, id, cash and/or credit card, water, a small snack, a face covering, hand sanitizer, kleenex, a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the ride will be canceled at least two hours prior to the start and the Ride Leader will not be at the start location. Cancelation notice will be on the ride posting here and will also be emailed to registered riders.
