CTS Blue/Green #5: Renton-Cedar Grove
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
This week's CTS Blue/Green offering is a ride from Renton out to the wilds of Hobart, then back through Issaquah, Bellevue, and Leschi. At 60.6 miles and 2665 feet of climbing, this continues our outward and upward trend towards a Century.
We will start from 200 Mill Ave S in Renton; our ride starts out the Cedar River Trail, then turns upward into Maple Valley and Hobart. A long descent on Issaquah-Hobart takes us into Issaquah, where we'll stop for a bit at Safeway to refuel. We turn west, climbing Newport Way as we roll into and through Bellevue. The i-90 trail carries us to Mercer Island, where we'll do a lap of the island before crossing to the Seattle side. Turning south, we'll ride Lake Washington Blvd and Rainier Ave back into Renton.
Please plan to be at the start line early enough so that you can be ready to roll before 9:00. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to stay together on the route. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum, including the 10 mph limit on the Cedar River Trail out to the Renton city limits.
Restrooms are available at the Liberty Park stadium, across the bridge from our start point. We will also plan for brief rest stops at Ron Regis Park (mile 3.1), Issaquah Safeway (mile 26.5), and Aubrey Davis Park (mile 48.1).
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
After the ride, join us for lunch at Whistle Stop Ale House, 809 S 4th St!
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
