Free Group Ride
Bellevue to Alki Beach & Coffee
Event has already happened.
Join us for a ride from Evergreen Point on a 41 mile route at a steady pace (12-14mph)!
We head out towards Bellevue and take the I-90 trail to get to Seattle and then go through SODO and take the bridge to Alki. On our return, we ride through the West Seattle commuter route to the downtown waterfront, continuing along Elliott Bay, Ship Canal route, UW and the 520 trail. Most of the hill climbing is in the first half of the ride and it is a fairly flat terrain along the water front & ship canal on our way back.
We don't have restrooms or water at the start. Please fill up your water bottles at home and/or plan accordingly. We will stop at Bellevue downtown park (roughly about 3.1 miles from start) where there are restrooms and water. We will have a second 25-minute combined coffee and rest stop at Alki beach Starbucks at approximately mile 20. We’ll also have a third rest stop, if needed, at Centennial Park at approximately mile 30.
Let's meet at the Evergreen Point Park & Ride and please be ready to ride at 10am. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.
Please bring any snacks you may want to have during the ride and any suitable funds if you plan to purchase food or drink at our coffee/rest stop.
We will climb and descend the hills at our own pace and will regroup at the top/bottom of the hill as needed. A downloadable ride map and cue sheet are at the link below. If you don’t have a GPS unit or cell phone guidance, please print a cue sheet so you can navigate the route on your own if you need to.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
