Join Cascade staff members on a 7 mile leisurely paced (10-12 mph) ride starting at Gasworks Park at 9:00 am around Lake Union on the Cheshiahud Lake Union Loop Trail to celebrate the return of STP and the opening of public registration for the Kaiser Permanente Seattle to Portland Presented by Alaska Airlines on Tuesday, Feb. 8th!
Let's meet at Gasworks Park parking lot and be ready to ride at 9:00 am. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.
All are welcomed on this fun and slow-paced (10-12 mph) ride to mark the return of STP following a two-year hiatus. The ride will start and end in Gasworks Park and will follow the Burke-Gilman Trail to Fremont, then cross the Fremont Bridge to the Westlake Protected Bike Lane, then pass through South Lake Union and continue along Fairview Avenue back to the University Bridge Bike Lane before re-connecting with the Burke-Gilman and heading back to Gasworks. The goal is to have fun, let the public know that STP is back, and that non-member registration for the Pacific Northwest's most iconic ride is open as of Tuesday! Be ready to whoop it up and hoot and holler and ring your bells!
The route is mostly flat, but we will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to stay together. Nobody will be dropped from this ride.
Restrooms are available at the start and end of the ride at Gasworks Park.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
