**CANCELLED** Ride Up North #1: Flat Everett-Snohomish route (repeat #3)
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
This ride is designated #1 in the 2022 RUN series (RIDE UP NORTH). As the series number increases, so does the length and degree of exertion, as well as the distance of the start north of Seattle. Later rides will be in Island, Skagit and Whatcom counties.
This ride is suitable for 4 types of riders: 1) beginning riders who are new to CBC rides; 2) those just seeking a really relaxing, scenic, stay-together ride out in the country; 3) those who have been training hard on other rides and are looking for some good "recovery" miles; and 4) those (like your ride leader) who are building base miles, strengthening joints, connective tissues, muscles and the cardio-vascular system in preparation for harder rides to come.
Tired of the traffic, inattentive drivers and exhaust fumes of the city? Join us north of Seattle. By riding up north, far up north on our RUN rides, you will enjoy the rural views and low to zero traffic of our northwestern counties. Plus, you may pick up some cycling tips. Ride with a former USA Cycling coach on a RUN super-easy 20 miles on (mostly) rural roads largely along the shore of the Snohomish river to Snohomish and back. Sea lions, river otters, hawks and eagles can sometimes be spotted.
Let's meet at the Broadway Mall/Sharing Wheels parking lot at 11 am for the safety briefing, and then we'll depart. Late arrivals who miss the safety briefing cannot not participate in the ride.
Getting There: From the south: Pacific exit, west to Broadway, 6 blocks north on Broadway. Parking is off the alley
From the north: Everett exit, west to Broadway, 2 blocks north on Broadway.
Restrooms: Just inside the Mall off the alley. You will need to ask for a key from the folks at Sharing Wheels.
We'll stay together on the flats, but riders may sometimes either fall behind or shoot ahead on hills. We will regroup at hilltops so no one gets too far ahead or behind. .
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Cancellation Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
