Free Group Ride
Woodinville to Green Lake for Coffee
Event has already happened.
Join us for a ride starting from Wilmot Gateway Park in Woodinville on an approximate 41 mile route at a Steady pace (12-14 mph)! This is a route starting on the Eastside which merges a moderate amount of hill climbing with some fairly flat terrain using bike trails, bike lanes, and largely quiet neighborhood streets for most of the route.
Now that our Pacific Northwest Summer is officially over, it's time for some fabulous Fall recreational riding! This week we will venture from Wilmot Gateway Park in Woodinville on a scenic loop ride around Green Lake in Seattle. We will have a very short rest stop at approximately mile 15.1 at Matthews Beach Park, and an approximate 25 minute coffee/snack/water/restroom stop at a coffee shop at approximate mile 26.6. Because this route has a lot of interesting features, we may regroup a little more frequently than we have in the past to take advantage of the views. Special notes on the route include: a) we will have a short flat section (0.2 miles) on packed gravel in Ravenna Park which has been suitable for road bikes; and b) we will have a short flat section (0.7 miles) along the Green Lake Trail which may require us to be patient and ride a bit slower due to possible other trail user traffic.
Let's meet at the Wilmot Gateway Park by the tables under the Pergolas in the park at 0930, ready to ride, for our pre-ride safety briefing, with a planned departure right after completion of the Safety Briefing. Please note that you must be a) pre-registered for this ride via the Cascade Bicycle Club website; and, b) you must be present for the safety briefing at 0930, else you won't be able to ride with us.
Please note that youth soccer activities have started in Woodinville, and there has been a lot of construction activity recently in the parking lot area, so parking might require a little more time if you drive to the start. Please factor this into your planning for arriving on time.
We will climb and descend the major hills at our own pace and our goal will be to regroup frequently - this is a social ride after all! Faster riders are welcome but for them the ride becomes self-paced. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH).
Restrooms are available at the start. Please bring funds appropriate for your needs if you wish to purchase coffee or snacks at our coffee stop.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
